Every day and The Contemporary is a culmination of the final semester projects of graduating art students at Srishti Institute of Art, Design, and Technology. This trans-disciplinary project attempted to understand our modernizing and homogenizing world – governed by technological and global capital. The project was an attempt to trace an individual within a social mechanism and chart possible ways to enact historical/cultural/social/political identities within this system. The project was shaped on the histories and theories of Everyday Life and branched into contemporary prospects of individualized subject-hood. One of the key starting points for these projects were: How does mass culture create an (a)political subject out of an individual?
