Breaking The Pattern – an art exhibition by Heena Pari

On Saturday, December 16, 2017, 6:30 PM.
Exhibition on display till December 23, 2017

About the exhibition:

Am I a homemaker? Am I an artist? Does my role as a homemaker take away from my identity as an artist? The eternal questions of identity, gender roles, patriarchy and conditioning all get thrown in the mix while trying to prioritize family and making art simultaneously. My work is an attempt to address the set notions about domestic life and to celebrate the multiple roles within.

About Heena Pari:

Heena Pari is an artist, designer and a homemaker with a degree in Printmaking from the College of Fine Arts, Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore. Passionate about patterns, Heena’s practice involves exploring designs to create products that are aesthetic and utilitarian in nature. She worked in a collaborative and interactive project concerning sexual harassment titled, “Traversing Experiences”, which was a public art project housed in a metro station supported by the Goethe Institut, Bangalore in 2017. As a printmaker, Heena explores the graphic possibilities of interpreting design as a visual language. She looks at the domestic space as a laboratory of creativity, celebrating the alchemy of cooking and using the repetition of chores of housekeeping as a metaphor for life.
This is her first one-person show of installation and painting.
